Just a Reminder...

Articles posted to this blog do not need to be focussed on dissing today.com - although they DO seem to enjoy providing lots of fodder for that, don't they?

You are also more than welcome to post updates about whatever you're doing on your new non-today.com blog(s) .... build backlinks, tell us how you're finding ~life~ after today, your experience with blog platforms or promotion tools....... whatever.

And if you're a today.com exile who hasn't yet joined us here, all it takes is an email - what are you waiting for?

Me And Craig May 21, 2009 at 1:05 PM

Hi ...
I left a page rank 3 blog at Today.com called iowahippiechick.
I am now blogging at http://meandcraig.blogspot.com

welcome hippie chick! They just keep losing all of their good bloggers...

As y'all know, I'm still there...BUT

They are DANGEROUSLY close to losing me at this point. I had a very generic and very popular idea enter my mind more than a month ago. Yep, I could have tossed up a self-hosted blog on my hosting plan in under 15 minutes, but I thought, why not do it at Today since none of the material is really anything I'd care to take with me and it involves minimal effort? At least with a search-engine friendly click-cow blog I would have a shot of getting my payouts on a semi-regular basis.

The problem? I've already got two blogs with them. I e-mailed to ask for an exception for a 3rd blog and got a response the very next day saying it was approved.

But have the tech peeps set up my sub-domain yet? No. It's been MORE THAN A MONTH and I'm still waiting on someone to take the time to set up the sub-domain that I could have had set-up in no time if I were them. (It's not hard...Seriously.)

When I sent in my W9, I got a response from the ONE member of staff who's on the ball, telling me they would check on the status of my new blog. That was more than a week ago. If they're new business model is to drive themselves into the ground with sub-par everything then congratulations are certainly in order...

I swear...*holds finger and thumb a centimeter apart*...I am this far from starting my own competing blog network just to show that it can be done a WHOLE lot better and run much more efficiently than they're doing. And for the Today spies who might be here, you can go ahead and take back these facts:

1. Yes, I have the domain ready to go.
2. Yes, I know EXACTLY how to get it all set up.
3. Yes, I know how to use SEO to build page rank.
4. Yes, I have no problem doing any of this and taking all of their remaining pissed off bloggers with me.
5. Yes, I'm already very much aware of the legal loopholes they believe they have to protect them as a company, just as I am aware of how their repeated breaches of their own contract have turned it into one that will NOT stand up in court should they lock me out of MY blogs for this little rant...forcing me to repost each and every bit of my content elsewhere.

Yeah...believe it or not, there are still people out there who can write well, provide interesting content to draw in the page views AND have a FIRM GRASP of US contract law. In short, I believe that what goes around comes around and am fully prepared to be the agent of karma coming back to you as a company. No doubt the universe is already all over the person responsible for so much lower vibrational behavior.

Yep, Karma is a bitch and her name is Jen...but then again, this bitch is still enjoying her blogging vacation and could possibly be easily appeased by the time she returns. But that's not up to me, now is it?

Oh, to make it really easy for the spies, I'm Your Dark Passenger and The Stiletto Philosopher.

Your move...but keep in mind that I'm the one who continues to obtain media coverage as a blogger and a researcher, not Today.com. Think I can't duplicate my success on a better run network? Let's play.

so...shall we start a pool on how long till you get your very own "we understand that you are not happy ..." email?

Why not. Though, I've said nothing out of order on any of my today blogs or in the forum, but nothing surprises me anymore...
